The Chairman, Hon. Giwa Nurudeen on Friday disclosed that Muroko-road, General hospital, Ita-Ofa, Ikoti, Oke-Ado down to the popular Ishokun junction roads are being targeted for rehabilitation in the ongoing efforts by Ilesa West parliament to make roads within the local government motorable and ensure free-flow of traffic.
Hon. Giwa, while speaking during inspection of the roads, said the rehabilitation being done by Governor Gboyega Oyetola and how it has ease the movement of vehicles in those area is a clear indication for council chairmen to fit in and imbibe that beautiful culture of maintenance.
He said the ongoing road rehabilitation was the first phase, saying the local government parliament planned to embark on more phases of roads rehabilitation across the five wards in the local government.
A motorcyclist, Mr Adekunle who interacted with the chairman while on the inspection, commended the local government parliament for approving the rehabilitation as the ongoing work had helped to improve movement of vehicles and motorcycle, he also said it will mitigate accidents usually caused by potholes, though he said measure should be taken to avert speeding.
Hon. Giwa was optimistic that once the rehabilitation works were completed, traffic situation across the town would be better . He said vehicles would be able to take alternative roads when the main road is witnessing heavy traffic jam especially during festive periods.
